On Tuesday the 29th of August, we had the Ngatea Primary School Cross Country at South Farms. It was my last Cross Country, so I wanted to give it my all. I had to wait around all day for my race because it was last.
This year, the track was a bit different. We did two big laps, then we started going up the hill. We went up halfway, then we went back down again. We had to climb down into a creek, trudge through, and then climb back out again. We then ran around the car park, and back down into the middle to finish. The race was six kilometres long.
I was super nervous to run. We warmed up with Mr Fraser, and then we started our race. The mud was really hard to run in. In some places, it was knee deep. I trudged through the mud, in about tenth place through most of it. I fell over lots of times, and I was completely coated in mud. I finished in 11th place. I didn’t make it into Hauraki Plains, but I didn’t really care because I gave it my all.
I was completely exhausted after my race, and it felt good to clean off all the mud!
