Reflection.

I got 3 wrong this time when I got my Cloze marked again. Here's a picture.
This Cloze was VERY hard.
When I did my SRA I was very annoyed because there was no marking card for the particular one I did. Luckily it was still marked off.
This week I chose my new art topic. This term everybody is doing lino. This is where we get a piece of lino and carve it out into the picture we have drawn. The topic I chose was carving houses into our lino. So far all we have done is go on Google Images, and take a look at some houses for ideas. I quite like the house that looks like this. It is supposed to be an old looking house, and I am not sure if this house is old enough.

This week for my NPS Broadcasting group, we broadcasted about the Rippa Rugby Tournament which will take place at the Ngatea Domain on the 6th of May. We also talked about our Kiwi Quiz. This is a quiz where our class gets in to teams and Mrs Barker asks us questions about New Zealand. The video should be on YouTube soon.

Cloze

The This week my cloze was really hard. I got 13 out of 20 wrong. I have put my cloze in to be marked again, and I hope I got it all right. Me and some friends worked on it together. The cloze had some really complicated words like dilapidated, and hostile. Some of the main reasons I got them wrong was because I didn't fully know what each word meant. With the word "gaudy I guessed that it meant sort of strong and messy. I will do another post once I have found out how many I got wrong and right. I will also add a picture in the following post.

World War One

On the 4th of August in 1914 Britain announced war against Germany.

This all started because a Serbian assassinated Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the throne of Austria.

It was then known as 'The Great War'. This war was against two dominant groups of countries who were known as "The Triple Alliance", and "The Triple Entente". The Triple Alliance were Germany, Austria and Italy. The Triple Entente was Great Britain, France, and Russia.

Every country that was involved in World War One organised troops and prepared to fight.
New Zealand had roughly 128,825 soldiers. Australia had about 412,954. Britain had about five million soldiers, and lost one million.
These countries were in the Triple Entente.

The Battle Of Somme was a very deadly battle during the first World War. About one million soldiers were killed during this battle.
420,000 from Britain, 200,000 from France and 500,000 from Germany.

Around about 65 million troops fought in World War One. 558,000 men fought from Scotland. 273,000 from Wales, and 143,000 from Ireland.

Animals played their part in World War One too.
Horses helped transport equipment, dogs helped find wounded soldiers, and they needed pigeons to transport messages. Many animals were also used as mascots.

The war ended at eleven a.m on the eleventh day of the eleventh month (November).
To celebrate the end of the war Jelly Babies were invented, but back then, they were known as Peace Babies.

Lest We Forget.
