Ring Worth 650,000 Bought For $18 At A Car Boot Sale

This is what I discovered:
A large diamond ring expected to be worth nearly $650,000 (NZD) was sold 30 years ago for $18 (NZD) at a car boot sale, thinking it was a costume jewel. The stone was not thought to be real because 19th-century diamonds were not cut to show off their brilliance like they are today. The owner wore it for decades, unaware of its value. The diamond is 26.27 carat.
My Opinion:
It’s pretty funny that this guy paid a tiny fraction of the price for this ring! And he wore it all the time, thinking it was costume jewellery!
Source: I found this information on Kiwi Kids News.
My Wondering:
Where is the ring being sold?
Answer:
A place called Sotheby’s in London.
Words:
Carat: a unit of weight for precious stones and pearls, equivalent to 200 milligrams.
Substantial: of considerable importance, size, or worth.

Exceptionally: unusual; not typical.
